35 years ago today, on 11th January 1982, the first episode of the BBC series The Computer Programme was broadcast, bringing BBC BASIC and the BBC Micro to the attention of the public.

I remember watching this show but, at 15 years old and with a whole 2 years of BBC BASIC under my belt, I felt - probably misguidedly - that it was slightly beneath me.

Fascinating trip down memory lane, thanks for sharing that.

Not sure how you could have had "2 years of BBC BASIC" under your belt, when it hadn't even been finalised as little as six months before that programme was broadcast! The very first BBC Micros were supposedly on sale in December 1981 and the programme went out in January 1982.

Wow, yeah, early in '82. I remember starting computer club at (what I thought) was 13 years old, and I thought we had had the Beebs in by that point. My excuse is that it's an awful long time ago - and it's possible that I didn't see this program when it first aired (possibly shown to the class on video, back when that meant wheeling in a bloody great big TV and a VHS on a trolley.)
