xx Use of DLLs
« Thread started on: Jul 27th, 2017, 6:32pm »

I'm new to BBC BASIC for Windows (having used BBC BASIC years ago). I want to use a Velleman USB experiment interface board (from Maplin and others) which is supplied with a library of functions in a DLL (called K8055D.DLL) which I have placed in my windows/sysWOW64 directory. The board comes with some example software and examples of how to use the dll from DELPHI, Visual Basic, C++ etc but I have no idea of how to reference the dll from BBC BASIC for Windows. This information might already exist somewhere in the vast array of details but I won't live long enough to find it! Could anyone please help point me in the right direction? I can provide any other information that you might need including a copy of the DLL notes supplied.

I have a K8055 card myself. There are some relevant programs at the discussion group here (I'm not sure whether you need to be a member in order to see them).

Thanks for the swift reply Richard. The discussion board gave me enough detail to make good progress and I now can access the Velleman board, set and read various inputs and outputs. Now to develop the project!
I see that the discussion board was once held on a Yahoo platform and many users mention having placed example programs in the groups temp file area. Now that it is based on Groups, are all of those example files gone? It was frustrating to see that many had provided just the help that I was looking for but I couldn't get to them.

For some unknown reason - possibly Copyright issues - the 'automatic' group transfer process from Yahoo! to Groups.io doesn't include the contents of the Files area (even though it does include the entire message archive, going back many years!). The only way of transferring files is manually, one at a time.

So if there are specific files in the Files area of the old Yahoo! group that you would like to be available in the new group please let me know. So long as there aren't too many I should be able to transfer them.

I would not normally expect that to include files in the Temp Folder however because by definition they were not intended to be available for more than a short time. It wouldn't be fair to the original author(s), who may not even be contactable.
